BIOGRAPHY:

Born in Seattle, Washington, Ted Sizemore had begun drawing and painting pictures by the age of two. In the spring of 1946, he graduated from the University of Washington with a B. A. in Commercial Art. Three years earlier, his formal education had been interrupted by a tour of duty in the armed forces which included twenty-eight missions out of Italy as a navigator in B24 bombers with the 15th Army Air Corps.

In 1947, he attended the Art Center School in Los Angeles for one year on the G. I. Bill. Since then, he has had a long career as a free-lance commercial illustrator. Working at one time or another in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Boston, he has produced realistic illustrations for a variety of subject matter including product advertisement, billboards, magazine story illustration, movie posters, and, most recently, paperback book covers.

Ted has been a member of The Art Guild at Fairfield Glade since 2006.

In the 2007 Spring Show, his oil, “Yellow Bellied Woodpeckers”, won first place in the framed-no glass category. In the Fall Award Show of the same year, his oil, “Woody”, won best of show.

He and his wife, Valerie, a former flight attendant, teacher, school administrator and realtor, have been married since 1967. They are now retired and live in central Tennessee, where Ted continues to paint.
